PROTECTION / FIT / DESIGN: FIVE's DNA
The hand is a limb that is both complex and fragile, and as such, it is very exposed in the event of a fall. Composed of a large number of small elements, joints, bones, muscles, tendons, nerve endings, designing a product that adapts to these constraints is not so simple. And as the hand is essential to our daily lives, it is therefore essential to protect it properly, with the right glove for the application. A glove isn't designed like a simple jersey. It must be protective, comfortable, durable, breathable, and fit the rider's hand to enable his slightest movement, without restriction. It's really a matter for specialists! Of course, on a bike, you pedal with your legs, but the precision and finesse of the steering is expressed through the handlebars. Therefore, the glove is the essential link between you and your bike; the link between what the rider has in his head, and what is reproduced through the bars.
FIVE have more than 10 years of experience at the highest level in motorcycle competition (MotoGP, Superbike, Endurance, Motocross, Enduro World Championships, etc.), which have given them absolute control of the technical constraints, both in terms of riding a two-wheeler at high speed and reducing the risk of hand injury. They have put this experience to good use and, by adapting their concepts to this very specific practice, have applied it to the bicycle.
There is a fundamental difference between making a beautiful glove and making a good glove. FIVE's ambition is to bring you the synthesis of the two in a single product. Designing a glove is one thing, producing it on a large scale and duplicating its functional qualities on each size is another. FIVE create their own concepts, draw their own patterns size by size, determine to the millimeter the positioning of each protective element / each seam, and then select every material. So that in the end, the fit of the glove and the feel it provides (FIVE call it "fitting") always offers the best compromise between protection and comfort of use: regardless of size. Only a specialist can provide you with such consistency. FIVE have their own design and development centers, in France and Italy, and manufacture in their own production units. In the end, it makes all the difference. To convince yourself of this, do one very simple thing: slip your hand into a FIVE glove.
The practice of cycling, in all its forms, is becoming more and more technical. FIVE are convinced that this same approach, imbued with high standards and technicality, is valid in terms of the pilot's equipment. It is this approach that has led to the design of the FIVE Bicycle Advanced Gloves range, and the collections within it.
